Rich Chocolate Frosting

 
 

4 tablespoons butter
1 egg unbeaten
1 tablespoon milk (about)
2 1/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar
2 1/2 squares bakers unswetened chocolate melted
teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt

Cream butter and egg and blend.
add sugar alternately with milk, beating well,
add salt, chocolate and vanilla
and beat until smooth.

Makes enough frosting to cover tops and sides of 8 in layer.

 

Aunt Pit wasn't afraid to use raw eggs. If you are worried about salmonella, substitute pasteurized or powdered eggs.
